Engineering & Change Management

Evaluation of Projects, Processes, Procedures and Facilities

It is important that HSES personnel are kept abreast of new/potential projects, changes in yard operations or facilities, new equipment, etc. This is accomplished in a variety of ways including weekly operations meetings, safety council meetings, management review meetings, and contract reviews. HSES personnel are also involved in:

  • Review of operational procedures to ensure required HSES input is included
  • Coordinating with supervisors to ensure the appropriate engineering/hazard controls, personal protective equipment, and/or procedures are being followed and are effective
  • Monitoring projects to ensure risks are addressed initially and whenever changes are made

Evaluation of Procured Equipment, Materials, and Services

HSES personnel are involved in the evaluation and approval of purchases involving hazardous materials and personal protective equipment. The purpose of this is to reduce potential impacts to employees, property, and the environment while ensuring compliance with facility permits and all applicable local, national, or international regulations.
