Description:
Five wells, planned among two well centers. Production
flows to the SeaStar® mini TLP via individual 4 inch
diameter insulated steel catenary risers (SCRs). One well
center is situated north-northwest of the platform and the
other is to the south-southwest. The well centers are 3,000
feet from the TLP. The TLP contains process equipment and
serves as the control center. Two 12 inch SCRs exit the
TLP to the north-northwest to export the processed oil and
gas.
Innovations:
- Titanium Tapered Stress Joint used for suspending the
SCRs at the TLP
- High Collapse Resistance (HCR) hoses in a direct hydraulic/electric
control umbilical
- Two years from design concept to first oil
- Insulated high pressure 4" flowline SCRs

Scope:
EPIC Contract: Installation of the SeaStar® tension
leg platform (TLP), including piled foundations, tendons,
hull and deck. JRM is responsible for procuring, designing
and installing the flowline/pipeline and subsea systems.
Mentor Subsea performed the preliminary design of the subsea
system.
JRM managed the detailed design and procured the
subsea equipment packages, which included 5 subsea production
trees and 2 riser end manifolds (REM) with associated controls,
umbilicals, connectors, risers and titanium tapered stress
joints. JRM also designed, procured and installed 3 miles
of 12" gas export pipelines and 1.7 miles of 12"
oil export pipelines, each with 1 mile of 12" SCR.
This was all installed using the J-Lay method.
In addition,
JRM designed, procured and installed five 4" insulated
infield flowlines and SCRs, also using the J-Lay method.
Technology:
- Riser End Manifold(REM)
- Retrievable piping manifold
- Isolates SCR loads to trees and wellheads
- Pigging from platform w/o total field
shutdown
- Allows future use of risers for satellite
production
- CDTU - Man/Machine Interface through
a Direct Hydraulic Control System
- Interface to Intelligent Downhole
Completion System (SCRAM's)
- Titanium SCR Stress Joints
- Flowline Coiled Tubing Accessible
